Pretreatment with Brine

Oversalting of granular salt can cause damage to sod and plants and be found piled up along sidewalks and doorways.

The use of liquids most certainly eliminates many of these issues. The process of pre-wetting salt when being applied allows the salt to remain on the surface it is intended for. Being wet, the salt doesn’t bounce into landscapes and therefore, less salt is needed.

Pretreatment with brine increases the efficiency of storm clean up and prevents bonding of snow and ice to the pavement. It can be effective up to 4-5 days prior to a snow event. We custom blend for every event and part of the blending process is adding 32% calcium to the brine.

A proactive contractor will make these applications properly and should be held accountable for oversalting and causing damage.
